Working with Slabs
For Beginners
Clay slabs are a core hand-building technique, and can be used to make a huge variety of objects from precise geometric panels to flowing organic shapes.
However, slab building can be frustrating due to the high ratio of cracking, warping and slumping.
In this course we will be looking at all the different ways we can cut, roll, manipulate, fold, texture and join flat pieces of clay while minimising warping, cracking and slumping. You will learn what type of clay to use, how to flatten it and when to join it to create unique amazing shapes.
