Firings Information: Terms & Conditions
We take all precautions and due care to ensure your work fires safely, but we cannot make any guarantees of final results and do not take responsibility for breakages or accidental damage to your work. Work is sorted into the kilns according to size and readiness, large or wet work may take longer to process. We strongly recommend that you do ample testing and leave sufficient time to complete any project.
We reserve the right to refuse any items which we feel may cause problems.
Please make sure you fill in the firing form correctly and completely, including your phone number - in case we need to contact you with any questions.
Your ID on the work needs to be legible and visible (e.g.: not written in pencil or covered by glaze)
Glaze Firing
We glaze fire to 1280C, we cannot glaze fire earthenware or other low-temperature clays.
Your work will be fired the way you put it on the shelf (e.g.: if you put the lid on the pot they will be fired together, if you leave the lid next to the pot they will be fired separately). Make sure your piece is upright and stable, or it may be refused.
Your work will be sorted by height, so pots and lids may not always be fired together. We will do our best to fire lids next to the pots if you put them next to each other on the shelf.
We do not fire glazed greenware (raw clay). This can be hazardous to other work and the kiln. (We can bisque fire it first, even with the glaze on, and you will be charged for both firings).
If you work with runny glazes, please provide a bisque fired clay cookie (coaster) to put under your work.
Your work will not be fired and you will be contacted if:
Pieces made with BRT (Buff Raku) require cookies underneath (from different clay) to prevent sticking to the kiln shelf.
Damage
If kiln shelves are damaged (due to overflowing glaze etc.) you will be charged a fee of $10 per damaged shelf.
If your work ruins a kiln shelf, you will be charged for the cost of replacing that shelf.
You may be charged for damage to other people’s work, if the damage is significant.
Uncollected Work
Fired work that has not been collected within two (2) months from when they have been fired will be considered abandoned and become the property of ClayMake Studio. If you are unable to collect your work within this timeframe please contact the studio.
