Class FAQs
I am a total beginner. Which class would you recommend?
Almost all of our courses are suitable for beginners, it more depends on what you're interested in learning and what suits your schedule best. If a course isn't suitable for beginners it will say so on the course 'learn more' page.
What happens if I miss a class?
If you miss a class don't worry! Our tutors are always happy to help students catch up by repeating the demos students may have missed. Students are also welcome to come to the studio outside of class time for casual sessions - no need to pre-book. You can learn more about casual sessions here.
Do you have a waiting list?
We do have waiting lists for fully booked courses. If you would like to be added to a waiting list please contact us with which course you are interested in and how many spots you are after - if there is a cancellation we will let you know!
Can you let me know when you schedule the next lot of courses?
The best way to keep up to date with what's happening at ClayMake is to sign up to our newsletter. This will let you know when enrolments for new courses are open as well as upcoming events. You can sign up to the newsletter here.
Can you put me on the list for the next class before it is published online?
No - because we have a flexible timetable we prefer not to enrol people in courses ahead of time. This way students can enrol in courses they know will suit their schedule.
I can't see any available casual classes for the whole year - are you still offering them?
Yes - if you can't see any available casual classes that is because the ones currently scheduled are fully booked. We update the website with 8 weeks worth of classes at a time so we can keep our timetable flexible. If you would like to be added to a waiting list please contact us with your preferred date and number of places and we will let you know if we get last minute cancellations.
When will my casual class work be ready for pick up?
Usually between 2-3 weeks. Before clay can go into the kiln it needs to be 100% dry - if not it can explode! This drying process can sometimes a few weeks depending on the weather and how wet a piece is. After your work is dry it will go into the kiln to get fired, which will take another 3 days.
Once you have received an email letting you know your work is ready you can come to collect any time during opening hours. The sooner you come to collect the better - that way we can avoid work getting broken or lost.
If you do not hear from us after a month please be in touch - sometimes our emails can end up in spam folders. Please note the notification email will be sent to whoever booked the class.
