Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to learn from internationally renowned Canadian ceramic artist Trudy Golley.
Trudy will demonstrate the technique of making simple one- and two-part plaster moulds using a paper pulp and plaster mixture that she has developed called Paperplaster. During the workshop participants will make their own moulds from clay models. These moulds are suitable for press moulding and slipcasting.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and people with prior clay experience.
Workshop Schedule
9:00 to 10:30 Demo making a simple models from clay and making a paperplaster mould.
10:30 to 11:00 morning tea
11:00 am to 12:30 participants working on their own forms and moulds, guided.
12:30 to 1:00 lunch break
1:00 pm to 2:30 demonstrating how to make a simple two part mould from a found object andor clay model. Finding parting line, build up and making a paperplaster mould.
2:30 to 2:45 afternoon tea
2:45 to 4:30 participants working on their own moulds, drop and two part
4:30 to 5:00 wind down and clean up

About the Artist
Trudy Golley received her undergraduate training in ceramics at the Alberta College of Art and the University of Calgary (BFA 1988), and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia (MFA 1991).
She has been invited to participate in artist residencies, exhibit, lecture, and give workshops in Canada, Australia, China, Denmark, the USA, Hong Kong, and Malta. Trudy has been an instructor at the Alberta College of Art and Design, the University of Calgary, University of Tasmania, University of Manitoba, and the Kootenay School of the Arts. Her work is represented in numerous public and private collections including the Winnipeg Art Gallery Permanent Collection, Canada Council Art Bank, and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. She is the recipient of awards from the Canada Council, Manitoba Arts Council, and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2002, and the International Academy of Ceramics in 2019. Trudy was an Instructor in the Visual Arts Department at Red Deer Polytechnic for 24 years and has recently retired to focus on her own work. To learn more about Trudy visit her website HERE. |
