This workshop will focus on making fast and easy paper clay and various handbuilding techniques including using silhouette templates, which allow for the crafting of individual, asymmetrical forms.

Workshop Schedule
9:00 to 10:30 demonstrating making fast and easy paper clay for use in silhouette molds to make simple asymmetrical forms. Making forms and assembly.
10:30 to 11:00 morning tea
11:00 to 12:30 participants making their own forms.
12:30 to 1:00 lunch
1:00 to 2:00 demonstrating altering and assembly of forms made in morning.
2:00 to 3:30 participants working of their forms.
3:30 to 3:45 afternoon tea.
3:45 to 4:30 demonstration of a simple paperplaster mould utilizing the technique developed during the day.
4:30 to 5:00 review of work created by participants.

About the Artist
Trudy Golley received her undergraduate training in ceramics at the Alberta College of Art and the University of Calgary (BFA 1988), and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia (MFA 1991).
She has been invited to participate in artist residencies, exhibit, lecture, and give workshops in Canada, Australia, China, Denmark, the USA, Hong Kong, and Malta. Trudy has been an instructor at the Alberta College of Art and Design, the University of Calgary, University of Tasmania, University of Manitoba, and the Kootenay School of the Arts. Her work is represented in numerous public and private collections including the Winnipeg Art Gallery Permanent Collection, Canada Council Art Bank, and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. She is the recipient of awards from the Canada Council, Manitoba Arts Council, and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2002, and the International Academy of Ceramics in 2019. Trudy was an Instructor in the Visual Arts Department at Red Deer Polytechnic for 24 years and has recently retired to focus on her own work. To learn more about Trudy visit her website HERE. |
