In this five-week course, participants will explore the art of portrait sculpture through the medium of clay, bringing the human head or bust to life. Working on an armature, you'll build your sculpture solid, then carefully hollow and refine it in preparation for firing. Explore proportion, anatomy, and expression as you coax character and presence out of your clay.
This course welcomes both beginners and those with some clay experience, and invites exploration of form, character, and technique.
Students are welcome to bring their own reference images.
